AV Technician Hire in Malaga, Spain
Looking to hire an AV technician in Malaga, not just the equipment they run? Whether a technician is actually on site with your booking depends entirely on which Malaga Event Gear package you choose: included for the whole event on one, included with an hour cap on another, a paid add on on a third, and not offered at all on the fourth.
This guide covers the technician as a person and a role, not the equipment around them: which package puts one on site, what they actually do while your event runs, and how to book one for your date. For the coverage itself, phase by phase, with the named equipment our crew troubleshoots, see our technical support for events guide. If your event runs on a package with no technician, our AV system troubleshooting guide covers what to check yourself instead, package by package.

Brief Overview
Malaga Event Gear supplies an AV technician as part of specific event packages, never as a standalone hire, across Malaga and the wider Costa del Sol. Whether one is on site with your equipment depends on the package: included for the full event, included with an hour cap, available as a paid add on, or not offered at all.
This guide names exactly which package puts a technician on site, what that technician actually does while your event runs, and how far in advance to book one. Contact us to confirm technician coverage for your date.
Key Highlights
Four packages, four different technician outcomes: not offered, a paid add on, included for the full event, or included with an hour cap.
The Wedding Pack is the only package with a technician on site for the entire event, not a capped number of hours.
The MICE Pack includes a technician for up to 6 continuous hours, with each additional hour billed at 40 euros.
The Basic MICE Pack offers a technician as a paid add on, at 240 euros per day, rather than a standard inclusion.
We do not sell a technician on their own: every technician booking comes attached to one of our own equipment packages.
Technician by Package: What's Included and What Costs Extra
Whether a technician is on site with your equipment is not a blanket rule. It is set per package, and the difference between "included" and "add on" is worth checking before you book, not after:
| Package | Technician | Cost | Coverage |
|---|---|---|---|
| Eco Pack | Not offered, not even as an add on | Not available | Not applicable |
| Basic MICE Pack | Paid add on | +240 euros per day | Full event day |
| Wedding Pack | Included | Included in the 650 euro package price | Full event, no hour cap |
| MICE Pack | Included | Included in the 490 euro package price, +40 euros per extra hour | Up to 6 continuous hours |
All prices are ex VAT, with 21 percent Spanish VAT added at checkout. See full package inclusions on our packages page. If you also need the sound equipment specs behind each package, not just the technician column, our sound system rental guide covers the same four packages by guest count and gear.
What an AV Technician Actually Does On Site
An AV technician is not just someone standing near the mixing desk. Before your event starts, they run gain staging and signal testing across the sound and any screens, catching a microphone that is about to feed back or a projector that will not sync before a single guest has arrived.
Once the event is live, they adjust gain as different speakers take the microphone, each with a different voice and a different distance from it, and manage the handoff as one speaker sits down and the next stands up, so a beat of silence never turns into dead air. If a wireless microphone connection drops, or a projector loses sync mid presentation, fixing it in the moment is their job, not something you troubleshoot from the audience.
That is the real difference between the packages that include a technician and the one that does not. On the Eco Pack, the DJ or host runs their own set. On the Wedding Pack and MICE Pack, one of our own crew is the one watching the levels for you.
Can You Hire Just a Technician, Without the Equipment?
No. Malaga Event Gear does not sell a technician as a standalone service, only as part of one of our own equipment packages. If your event already has its own sound system, screen or lighting rig and you only need someone to operate it, that is not a booking we offer: our technicians are dispatched with our own gear, which is what they are trained on, not a third party rig they have never seen.
The closest match if a technician is your main requirement is the Basic MICE Pack, where the technician is a paid add on rather than a standard inclusion, or the Wedding Pack and MICE Pack, where one is already part of the package. Contact us if you are unsure which package fits, and we will confirm what is and is not possible for your event.
Wedding, Corporate or Party: Matching Technician Coverage to Your Event
Which package makes sense depends on how long your event actually needs a technician watching it, not just the type of event:
- A private party or DJ set rarely needs a technician: the Eco Pack is a self run PA system, with the DJ or host controlling their own levels. See our audio visual rental for music performances guide.
- A wedding runs ceremony, speeches, dinner and dancing back to back, often past the point a fixed hour cap would cover, which is why the Wedding Pack includes a technician for the full event rather than a set number of hours.
- A board meeting or small client meeting on the Basic MICE Pack often does not need one on site at all, which is why it is an optional add on rather than a default inclusion.
- A larger conference, product launch or all hands meeting on the MICE Pack gets a technician included for up to 6 continuous hours. If your event is likely to run longer, budget for the 40 euro per hour extension rather than assuming the cap will stretch.

Real Technician Setups We've Delivered

The technician's own working setup: a digital mixing console and wireless receivers, staged ahead of a Neighborhood Council community meeting our crew has supported for seven consecutive years. Read the full story in our 7 years of support for the Neighborhood Council community meeting update.
The microphone and podium setup our technician calibrated ahead of an FTI Consulting corporate event in Malaga.
On a two day corporate assignment in Marbella, our technicians handled the full transport, rapid assembly and pre event calibration of the sound and screens before the first guest arrived, working as the on site technical partner for another agency's corporate client. How to Book a Technician
Booking a technician follows the same process as any other package: choose the Wedding Pack or MICE Pack if you want one included, or add the technician option to your Basic MICE Pack quote request. Contact us with your event date, guest count and expected run time, especially if your event might run past the MICE Pack's 6 hour cap, so we can confirm the technician's hours before you book.
Demand for technician covered packages peaks during wedding season, from April through October, so lock in your date as early as you can once it is confirmed. For the full step by step process our crew follows on delivery day, see our how audio visual rental works guide.
Conclusion
Whether a technician is on site with your event depends on the package, not a blanket policy: not offered on the Eco Pack, a paid add on on the Basic MICE Pack, included for the full event on the Wedding Pack, and included up to 6 hours on the MICE Pack. Contact us to confirm technician coverage for your date. For our full audio visual rental range, see the audio visual rental page.
FAQs
Can I hire just an AV technician, without renting your equipment?
No. We do not sell a technician as a standalone service, only as part of one of our own equipment packages. See Can You Hire Just a Technician, Without the Equipment? above.
Which packages include an AV technician?
The Wedding Pack and MICE Pack include one as standard, the Basic MICE Pack offers one as a paid add on at 240 euros per day, and the Eco Pack does not offer one at all. See Technician by Package above for the full breakdown.
What does an AV technician actually do during my event?
They run gain staging and signal testing before your event starts, adjust microphone levels live as different speakers take the mic, manage the handoff between speakers so there is no dead air, and fix a dropped connection or a projector that loses sync in the moment. See What an AV Technician Actually Does On Site above.
How much does it cost to add a technician to the Basic MICE Pack?
240 euros per day, ex VAT, on top of the 295 euro Basic MICE Pack price. The technician is available for the full event day once added.
Is the Wedding Pack technician on site for the whole event, or a set number of hours?
The whole event, with no hour cap. This is the only package where technician coverage is not limited to a fixed number of hours, which matters for a wedding day that runs from ceremony through dancing.
What happens if my event runs longer than the MICE Pack's 6 hour technician cap?
Each additional hour is billed at 40 euros. If your event is likely to run past 6 hours, mention your expected run time when you book so we can confirm the technician's availability and cost for the extra hours in advance.
Do I need a technician for a small party or DJ set?
Usually not. The Eco Pack is a self run PA system with no technician on site, built for a DJ or host who controls their own levels. See our audio visual rental for music performances guide.
How far in advance should I book if I need a technician?
As early as you can once your event date is confirmed. Demand for technician covered packages, especially the Wedding Pack, peaks during wedding season from April through October, when technicians book up first.
What experience does your AV technician have?
Our technicians are our own crew, not a subcontracted team, and Malaga Event Gear has operated in the audiovisual rental sector since 1996. Every technician we send is dispatched with our own equipment, which is what they are trained and calibrated on.
Do you provide an AV technician for events outside Malaga city, like Marbella or Fuengirola?
Yes. Our technician covered packages serve Malaga city and extend across the Costa del Sol, including Marbella and Fuengirola. Contact us with your venue so we can confirm coverage for your specific location.
