What an AV Technician Actually Does On Site
An AV technician is not just someone standing near the mixing desk. Before your event starts, they run gain staging and signal testing across the sound and any screens, catching a microphone that is about to feed back or a projector that will not sync before a single guest has arrived.
Once the event is live, they adjust gain as different speakers take the microphone, each with a different voice and a different distance from it, and manage the handoff as one speaker sits down and the next stands up, so a beat of silence never turns into dead air. If a wireless microphone connection drops, or a projector loses sync mid presentation, fixing it in the moment is their job, not something you troubleshoot from the audience.
That is the real difference between the packages that include a technician and the ones that do not. On the Eco Pack, the DJ or host runs their own set, and on the Product Presentation Pack, the presenter runs their own slides and microphone. Can You Hire Just a Technician, Without the Equipment?
Not from our own crew. Malaga Event Gear does not sell a technician as a standalone service, only as part of one of our own equipment packages. Our technicians are sent with our own gear, and we would rather not send them to run a rig they have never worked with.
If your event already has its own sound system, screen or lighting rig and you only need someone to operate it, you can still ask us. The same logic applies to anyone else: the operator has to know that specific rig. Tell us its make and model, and we can ask suppliers for an operator who already works with that equipment and is free on your date. If we cannot find one, we will tell you before you plan around it.
The closest match if a technician is your main requirement is the Basic MICE Pack, where the technician is a paid add on rather than a standard inclusion, or the Wedding Pack and MICE Pack, where one is already part of the package.
