Outdoor Movie Screen Rental in Malaga, Spain

Outdoor Movie Screen Rental in Malaga, Spain

By Hector Luis Lorenzo · · Updated

Looking for outdoor movie screen rental in Malaga, Spain? A film under the sky is easy to picture and easy to get wrong: the picture needs real darkness, the dialogue needs speakers that carry across open air, and the whole setup needs confirmed power before the first guest sits down.

Malaga Event Gear delivers, installs and tests a projection screen, a projector and PA sound for outdoor venues across Malaga and the wider Costa del Sol. We supply the equipment and the crew. The film, and the right to show it, are yours.

Contact us today to explore our range of equipment and packages.

Brief Overview

Malaga Event Gear supplies a projection screen and a projector, always as a pair, plus PA speakers for outdoor screenings at villas, terraces, gardens and beach venues. Our crew delivers, installs, tests and collects everything, and prices are published up front, from 295 euros ex VAT for a bundled screen, projector and sound package.

Tell us your venue, your guest count and the screen size you have in mind, and we confirm what fits. Contact us to start.

Key Highlights

  • A projection screen is never rented without a projector: the two always come as a pair, delivered, installed and tested by our own crew.

  • Two published screen and projector setups: a 2x2m screen with a 3000 lumen projector in the Basic MICE Pack at 295 euros, and a front projection screen with a stable stand and a 5000 lumen projector in the Product Presentation Pack at 310 euros. The Eco Pack adds a projector and screen for 50 euros.

  • A larger Da-Lite screen of 2.30 x 3.00 m, for front and rear projection, is separate equipment, not included in any package and quoted on request.

  • Sound comes from PA speakers, not a home cinema system.

  • Generators and tents are not in our own inventory: confirm the venue's power with us when you book, and see Power, Weather and Timing From Dusk to Dark.

  • You bring the film and are responsible for the licence to show it: licensing is not part of our service.

What an Outdoor Movie Night Needs

An outdoor screening is four jobs at once, and each one has a limit worth knowing before you book:

  • A screen and a projector sized to your audience. The picture has to be big enough for the last row and bright enough for the light that is left in the sky and around the venue.

  • Sound that carries. Dialogue is the part of a film an audience cannot afford to lose, and open air has no walls to hold the sound in.

  • Power at the right spot. The projector, the speakers and your playback device all need a reliable supply close to where they stand.

  • Darkness. A projected image competes with every other light in the venue, and an outdoor event cannot dim the sun.

We do not run a cinema: we supply the screen, the projector, the sound and the crew who set them up, and you bring the film. For the rest of what we deliver, see our full audio visual rental range in Malaga.

Outdoor Movie Screen Rental: Choosing Your Screen and Projector Size

Three of our packages carry a screen and a projector, and one larger screen is available separately:

All package prices are ex VAT, with 21 percent Spanish VAT added at checkout, and include delivery, setup and teardown. The Da-Lite screen is not included in any package: it is a stand with two screen cloths, built for front and rear projection, and we quote it on request. Tell us the venue and the audience and we confirm what it takes to use it.

How to choose between them comes down to two questions:

  • How far back does your audience sit? The farther the last row, the bigger the picture has to be. A 2x2m screen suits a small, close audience. A larger crowd, or a long lawn, points to the 2.30 x 3.00 m screen.

  • How much light is left? Lumens measure how bright the image is against the light around it. The 5000 lumen projector is the brighter of our two published tiers, and it is the one to ask about if your venue keeps some light on. Our projector rental guide explains both lumens tiers in full.

If you want a screen bigger than 2.30 x 3.00 m, that is not in our own inventory. Tell us what you need and we look for the solution with our suppliers, if there is one, with no size or deadline promised.

Sound for an Outdoor Movie: PA Speakers, Not a Home Cinema System

A film soundtrack is mostly dialogue, and dialogue needs speakers loud and clear enough to reach the back of the audience. That is exactly what a PA system does, and it is what we deliver: PA speakers, tested at your venue before the audience arrives.

  • The Eco Pack includes 2 active speakers with stands for up to 50 guests, self run with no technician on site, plus the optional projector and screen add on.

  • The Wedding Pack is a high end active PA for up to 80 guests with a technician on site.

  • The MICE Pack brings professional active speakers for up to 120 guests with a technician for up to 6 hours.

The Wedding Pack and the MICE Pack do not list a projector and projection screen among their inclusions. For a larger crowd, tell us the combination of sound, screen and projector you need and we confirm what is possible.

With no walls to reflect off, open air disperses sound further than a room does, so the speakers are placed to project across the space. Be honest with yourself about what that gives you: a clear, powerful PA, not a surround sound or home cinema system. Our own sound equipment is the PA described above. If your night needs a surround or home cinema system, tell us and we look for the solution with our suppliers, if there is one.

You run the film from your own laptop, tablet or player. On the Product Presentation Pack we provide HDMI and USB-C adapters plus audio interfaces to connect your device to our screen and sound system, so the connection is confirmed on arrival rather than solved on the spot.

Power, Weather and Timing From Dusk to Dark

Power. There are no generators or tents in our own inventory. Confirm the power point at your venue when you book, and we size the setup to what is actually available. If the supply genuinely falls short, a generator is something we can try to source from a supplier, with no promise of availability for your date and no promised deadline.

Ground. Grass, sand and uneven terraces are normal outdoor venues. Our crew manages cable runs and stand placement for the actual ground surface when we install. A rooftop or a beach venue adds wind exposure, which affects where we place the stands, and the screen is the part of the setup that feels it most. Tell us how open your venue is.

Weather. Our crew assesses conditions on site during installation and places the equipment around whatever shelter the venue provides. If rain is a real risk, arrange a covered backup area with your venue in advance. Our audio visual rental for outdoor events guide covers villas, terraces, beach clubs and gardens in more detail.

Timing. An image is only as good as the dark it is projected into. Ambient light, from the last of the sunset to terrace lights, pool lights or a nearby street lamp, washes out a projected picture. The hour it gets properly dark changes through the year on the Costa del Sol, so plan the start of the film around dusk rather than around the time on the invitation. Ask your venue which of its own lights can be switched off, and use the time before dark for arrivals, food and a short welcome.

Matching Your Outdoor Movie Night to a Package

  • A small gathering, up to 50 guests: the Eco Pack at 290 euros plus the 50 euro projector and screen add on, with 2 active speakers on stands, self run.

  • A bigger picture or a bigger crowd: the Da-Lite 2.30 x 3.00 m screen, separate and quoted on request, or a larger setup we look for with our suppliers if there is one.

Real Projector and Screen Setups We've Delivered

None of these is an outdoor movie night. They are projector and screen bookings for events in the province of Malaga, set up with the same delivery, installation and testing routine an outdoor screening gets.

Booking and Service Area

Our services cover Malaga, the Costa del Sol and Sevilla with no minimum order, and extend to Granada for rentals over 400 euros. Book at least 24 hours in advance to guarantee availability. For an outdoor screening with weather and dusk to plan around, book as early as you can once your date and venue are confirmed.

Conclusion

An outdoor movie night comes down to a screen your last row can read, a projector bright enough for the light that is left, PA speakers that carry the dialogue, and a venue with confirmed power. Malaga Event Gear delivers, installs, tests and collects all of it, and tells you honestly when something is not in our own inventory. For our full range, see the audio visual rental page. FAQs

What size screen do I need for an outdoor movie night, and for how many guests?

It depends on how far back your audience sits more than on the headcount alone. The 2x2m screen on the Basic MICE Pack suits a small, close audience, while a larger crowd or a long lawn points to the separate Da-Lite 2.30 x 3.00 m screen, which is quoted on request. Tell us your guest count and the layout of the venue and we confirm what fits. See Outdoor Movie Screen Rental: Choosing Your Screen and Projector Size above.

Can you set up an outdoor movie screen on grass or sand?

Yes, our crew manages cable runs and stand placement for the actual ground surface at your venue when we install. Beach and rooftop venues add wind exposure, which affects where the stands go, so tell us how open the venue is when you book. See Power, Weather and Timing From Dusk to Dark above.

What time is it dark enough to start an outdoor movie?

There is no single time, because dusk shifts through the year on the Costa del Sol and your venue may have its own lights. Plan the film to start after the sky has darkened and the venue lights you can control are off, and use the time before for arrivals and food. A brighter projector, such as the 5000 lumen one on the Product Presentation Pack, helps when some light stays on, but it does not replace darkness.

Do you supply the film or the licence to show it?

No. We supply the screen, the projector, the PA sound and the crew who set them up. The film, and the licence to show it to your audience, are the client's responsibility, and licensing is not part of our service.

Can I play the film from my own laptop or streaming device?

Yes, most screenings run from the host's own laptop, tablet or player. On the Product Presentation Pack we provide HDMI and USB-C adapters plus audio interfaces so your device connects to our screen and sound system. Have the film saved on the device so the screening does not depend on the venue's connection.

What if the venue has no power point or rain is forecast?

Tents and generators are not in our own inventory. Tell us early when your venue has no reliable power or no cover at all, and we can try to source a generator or a tent from a supplier, with no promise of availability for your date or a deadline. For rain, arrange a covered backup area with your venue in advance. See Power, Weather and Timing From Dusk to Dark above.

How much does an outdoor movie screen and projector rental cost?

The Eco Pack is 290 euros base plus a 50 euro add on for the projector and screen. The Basic MICE Pack, with its 2x2m screen and 3000 lumen projector, is 295 euros. The Product Presentation Pack, with its 5000 lumen projector and front projection screen, is 310 euros. All prices are ex VAT, with 21 percent Spanish VAT added at checkout, and include delivery, setup and teardown. The Da-Lite 2.30 x 3.00 m screen is separate equipment and quoted on request.

Do you rent an inflatable outdoor movie screen?

An inflatable movie screen is not in our own inventory. Tell us what you need and we look for a solution with our suppliers, if there is one, with no availability or deadline promised. It helps to tell us the venue (grass, sand or a terrace, and how exposed it is to wind), your guest count, the size you would like and whether there is a power point. Our own screens are projection screens that come with a projector, and you will find them in Outdoor Movie Screen Rental: Choosing Your Screen and Projector Size above.

Can I rent a portable movie screen for an outdoor event?

Not as a carry it yourself product. We work on a delivery only model with no self pickup: our crew delivers the screen, sets it up, tests it and collects it at your venue, and a screen always comes with its projector. For a small gathering there is the Eco Pack with its projector and screen add on. Beyond that, choose the 2x2m screen of the Basic MICE Pack, the front projection screen with stable stand of the Product Presentation Pack, or the larger Da-Lite 2.30 x 3.00 m screen, built for front and rear projection and quoted on request. If your movie night needs another type of screen, it is not in our own inventory: tell us what you need and we look for a solution with our suppliers, if there is one. Contact us.
